EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Born and raised in the city of Augusta, Dr. Grant Loo embarked on his academic journey at the Academy of Richmond County. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he attended Augusta College before ultimately earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Microbiology and Pharmacy from the University of Georgia.

During his academic journey, he diligently worked as a pharmacist to support his path through dental school. This dedication led him to graduate from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1990, where he obtained his Doctorate of Dental Medicine.

DENTAL COMMUNITY INVOLVMENT

Dr. Loo’s commitment to the field of dentistry extends beyond his practice. He is an active member of several dental associations, including the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Eastern District Dental Society, Augusta Dental Society, and the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society. His dedication to these organizations culminated in his presidency of both the Eastern District and Augusta Dental Societies.

He has been honored with fellowships in the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists, as well as an Honorable Fellowship from the Georgia Dental Association, recognizing his service to the organization. Notably, he was recently awarded the Lifetime Membership Award from the Georgia Dental Association.

In 2012, Dr. Loo received the Georgia Health Sciences University (formerly Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry) Distinguished Alumnus Award, a testament to his commitment to excellence in dentistry. His dedication has also earned him recognition on the Best Dentist Lists by Augusta Magazine and Woodward and White Publishing.

EDUCATION AND MENTORSHIP

Education holds a pivotal role in Dr. Loo’s career. He has actively participated in the School of Dentistry’s Building Imperative Steering Committee for the new College of Dental Medicine building. Presently, he is actively involved with the Dental College of Georgia Continuing Education Committee and serves as a board member of the School of Dentistry Alumni Association Board.

Mentoring aspiring dental professionals brings him great satisfaction, as he guides students contemplating a career in dentistry. Additionally, he serves as a preceptor for Augusta University dental hygiene students and Augusta Technical School dental assisting students, providing invaluable support along their educational journeys.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Dr. Loo extends his commitment to service to community involvement. He is honored to have served as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Augusta Preparatory Day School and currently serves as a Board Member of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of Augusta. He is affiliated with First Baptist Church of Augusta, where he has attended since childhood.

FAMILY AND HOBBIES

Outside the dental clinic and community activities, Dr. Loo values quality time with his wife, Shuishan, and their daughters, Mackenzie and Ashley. They cherish creating lasting memories with family and friends, whether it’s watching movies, embarking on exciting travels, or sharing the thrill of cheering for the University of Georgia football team during fall weekends.
